IDAC investigator Mantsha Raphesu has told the Madlanga Commission that former boss Andrea Johnson gave Parliament false information about Fadiel Adams’ Section 27 referral. Adams alleged misuse of state resources involving Crime Intelligence and the Political Killings Task Team.
Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has suspended investigators Dylan Perumal, Suneel Bellochun and Brian Padayachee as part of a clean-up. Accountability Now’s Advocate Paul Hoffman says IDAC should close.
National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola’s case is among high-profile cases under review. He faces four Public Finance Management Act charges linked to the R360-million SAPS tender awarded to Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala’s company.
In Matlala’s attempted-murder case, Captain Phimi Sekgobela admitted officers did not search alleged hitman Musa Kekana’s home in line with the Criminal Procedure Act. Kekana alleges police tortured him during efforts to recover weapons linked to Armand Swart’s murder.
Donald Trump claims his Board of Peace has secured a “historic” agreement for phased disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups. Hamas says the deal includes provisions on its weapons and gradual Israeli withdrawal, but Israel has not responded.
President Cyril Ramaphosa says South Africa’s clean-energy transition must be fair and inclusive. Visiting the Ummbila Emoyeni Power farm in Mpumalanga, he said projects should deliver lasting local benefits.
Anglo American cannot confirm reports valuing De Beers at $1-billion, or about R16.5-billion. CEO Duncan Wanblad says the group has no regrets about selling as lab-grown competition grows.
In other news we’re keeping an eye on, 11 people, including five children, have died after a 60-passenger bus overturned on the N1 between Trompsburg and Edenburg in the Free State. The cause remains unknown.

SAFA confirms Hugo Broos is leaving after five years as Bafana Bafana coach. He departs after guiding the team to the FIFA World Cup knockouts for the first time.
Banyana Banyana must beat Ivory Coast after their shock Women’s AFCON defeat to Tanzania. UEFA is threatening a World Cup boycott over FIFA’s private-investor proposal, also criticised by CONCACAF and the Asian Football Confederation.
The Proteas lost 58-54 to England and face Uganda for fifth place.
And finally, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will host the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, bringing the tournament back to Africa after 24 years.
