City of Cape Town ordered to approve venue for Minstrel Carnival

CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town has been ordered to comply with a previous Western Cape High Court directive.

Judge James Lekhuleni reiterated that the City must make available a suitable venue for the Cape Town Minstrel Carnival Association events.

This is despite the City's appeal against the original ruling.

The matter relates to a September booking of Vygieskraal Stadium, that was provisionally approved.

The permission was later withdrawn over what the city called operational and safety concerns.
