‘I imagined he’d sing at my wedding’ – fan mourns Scebi Dlamini’s passing

UMSINGA - Fans remember Scebi Dlamini as a Maskandi superstar and a humble soul offstage.

Dlamini is being laid to rest in uMsinga, KwaZulu-Natal.

He died in a car crash last Sunday in Richards Bay, en route to a festival performance.

One fan said she loved Dlamini so much, she would have loved to have him perform at her wedding.

“I love the song Bengidakiwe because I always imagined that he would sing at my wedding. His music represented women,” she said.

Another fan said: “I have been a fan of Scebi since I started following Maskandi music. I admired his humility and it taught me the value of being loved for who you are. He brought us authentic, old-school Maskandi. His loss cuts deep.”

Dlamini’s death has also affected other fans in their personal lives.

“I learned of his death on Facebook that he had died, and my heart broke. For the entire week, I have been struggling to cope at work.”
