DURBAN - The Democratic Alliance's eThekwini mayoral candidate Haniff Hoosen says the party will work towards putting R10-billion towards the City's water infrastructure should they take control of the Metro.
'We have a serious problem in the ANC over the last 20 years,' Hoosen said.
'They have not invested in the water infrastructure, and that is why we have 13,000 active water leaks throughout the City,' he explained.
The DA has promised to address water losses that run at 65%. An additional R6-billion is needed to fix ageing wastewater treatment plants.
The Auditor-General noted R4.4-billion in irregular expenditure in 2024/25.

Hoosen says they will start replacing the municipality's pipes and repairing every leak. He wants to do away with water trucks.
'We cannot continue like this,' he said.
