JOHANNESBURG - Joburg Mayor Dada Morero is expected to outline the city's financial position on Wednesday afternoon.
It follows Treasury's decision to withhold the municipality's July 2026 funding.
Treasury says the move is intended to enforce fiscal discipline and improve financial management.
Morero is expected to outline the city’s response and the implications for its finances and service delivery.

OUTA CEO Wayne Duvenage says it will be interesting to hear what Morero has to say.
“What we’ve wanted Dada Morero to do for a long time is convince us that he can manage the city’s finances. This didn’t happen overnight. It’s been a degradation of the city’s financial position over a number of years.
“Even though he hasn’t been mayor the entire time, he previously served as the MMC for Finance, so he’s been part of this problem for a long time," Duvenage said.
“I don’t know what he’s going to say or how he’s going to convince us. I don’t think he took Treasury seriously, and now he’s realising they are serious."
