Julius Mkhwanazi disciplinary hearing set down for April

JOHANNESBURG - Suspended Ekurhuleni Metro Police Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi’s disciplinary hearing will resume in April.

The hearing began on Tuesday, confirming he faces 13 charges, including misconduct and corruption.

Proceedings continued after his last-minute failed bid to halt the process. Mkhwanazi was suspended over the blue lights saga before being reinstated.

He allegedly acted with impunity while under the protection of former city manager Imogen Mashazi.

Several leaders, including suspended head of legal Kemi Behari, were also accused of shielding him.

His testimony at the Madlanga Commission has been postponed to 14 April due to a family bereavement.
