Kubayi: Government monitoring situation as migration tensions grow

PRETORIA - Government has defended its response to undocumented migrants in the country.

Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) Cluster Ministers met at the Union Buildings on Monday, calling for calm.

Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi said they are closely monitoring the situation.

This comes amid criticism from organisations that say government has not done enough.

Defence Minister Angie Motshekga has urged South Africans to act within the law when marching and protesting.

Meanwhile, the uMkhonto weSizwe Party says it wants to partner with the anti-migrant group March and March.

National spokesperson Sifiso Mahlangu said the party is engaging with the movement to explore possible areas of collaboration.
