SAHRC holds urgent migration imbizo

JOHANNESBURG - A virtual Imbizo held by the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) on Monday afternoon was tense, with several participants raising their voices.

The meeting focused on concerns related to recent marches over undocumented migrants.

The Commission says that more reports of violence, displacement, and threats to safety have made a coordinated response urgently needed.

The Commission says while it accepts criticism, there is no evidence to prove that hospitals are overcrowded because of foreign nationals.

Community members were also able to speak to the commission.
