Madlanga Commission hears cop enlisted crime boss in Khawula arrest plan

PRETORIA - A police officer has told the Madlanga Commission that he enlisted the help of an alleged crime boss to arrest controversial entertainment blogger Musa Khawula.

Fannie Nkosi, previously identified as Witness F, testified that he sent a warrant of arrest for Khawula to alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala.

Nkosi claims the move was carried out on the instruction of suspended deputy national police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya.

The commission, sitting in Pretoria, is probing allegations linked to police conduct and criminal networks.

Nkosi told the inquiry that Khawula had allegedly attempted to extort money from Matlala.

During questioning, Nkosi explained that he sent the warrant to Matlala because the alleged crime boss frequented entertainment venues where Khawula might be present.

He said the intention was that if Matlala encountered Khawula, he could alert police or present the warrant to officers so that Khawula could be arrested.
