JOHANNESBURG - Police have confirmed that most of the victims in the Kempton Park killings were sexually assaulted.
Investigators are working to establish the circumstances surrounding each death and whether the cases are connected.
Acting National Police Commissioner Tebello Mosikili said most of the victims were found partially clothed, while two bodies were found completely naked.
Mosikili said forensic investigations had established that most of the victims had been sexually assaulted.
“Majority of them were found to be sexually assaulted,” Mosikili said.
One of the bodies was in an advanced state of decomposition, making it difficult for investigators to immediately establish whether the victim had also been sexually assaulted.
Police have not yet established a motive for the killings.
Mosikili said investigators were also still determining whether the victims had been mutilated.
