Mugabe, Matonhodze bail application postponed to 5 March

JOHANNESBURG - The bail application of Bellarmine Mugabe (28) and his co-accused Tobias Matonhodze (33) has been moved to Thursday.

The pair were due to apply for bail on Tuesday at the Alexandra magistrate's court.

Matonhodze and the son of the late former Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe were arrested after a 23-year-old gardener was shot in the family home in Hyde Park, Johannesburg.

According to police, an altercation ensued between the gardener and Mugabe. The gardener was shot and ran out of the house, into the streets, where he caught the attention of private security.

It was previously reported that the man was in critical condition in hospital.

Mugabe and Matonhodze face charges of attempted murder and defeating the ends of justice. 

The latter charge is due to the fact that the gun used in the shooting still has not been found.

Cartridges were found on the property.
