PRETORIA - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says they are ready to proceed with suspended officer Sergeant Fannie Nkosi's case.
He appeared briefly at Pretoria North Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. His matter has been moved to the Regional Court.
Nkosi faces charges of fraud, theft and defeating the ends of justice. He has transitioned from being a key witness at the Madlanga Commission to a high-profile accused.
Firearms, ammunition, a hand grenade, cash and police dockets were seized during a raid at his home.
"Investigations have been finalised; that is why the docket will be disclosed. This is very important so that the defence can see and prepare for trial," said NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana.
"Other things will be ventilated during trial," she adds.
Nkosi has been linked to an alleged criminal kingpin associated with the so-called Big 5 Cartel. He has been touted as the middleman between the police and criminal cartels.
He will return to court on 15 September.
