Peet Viljoen's next legal battle: State to disclose case docket

PRETORIA - Disbarred lawyer and reality TV personality Peet Viljoen will remain behind bars after his bail application was dismissed.

His next court appearance on 4 September is expected to focus on the disclosure of the State’s docket, after his lawyer questioned whether the case is ready to proceed to trial.

He faces close to 400 charges, including fraud, corruption, theft, forgery, and uttering, linked to the sale of municipal properties amounting to R27 million in 2010.

The magistrate also factored in Viljoen's alleged witness intimidation and a fresh Hawks fraud probe into the sale of Tammy Taylor franchises.

His lawyer demanded to know whether the case was ready to go to trial.

Peet's wife, Mel Viljoen, was visibly emotional and inconsolable.
