SAHRC: No evidence migrants are causing hospital overcrowding

JOHANNESBURG - There is no evidence that South African hospitals are overcrowded due to foreign nationals.

This is according to the South African Human Rights Commission during a virtual imbizo held on Monday.

The meeting became heated, with several participants expressing strong anti-immigration sentiments to the Commission.

The imbizo focused on concerns related to recent marches against undocumented migrants.

The Commission said increasing reports of violence, displacement, and threats to safety have made a coordinated response urgently needed.

While the Commission acknowledged public concerns, it maintained that there is no evidence linking hospital overcrowding to foreign nationals.
