Sibanyoni lawyer accuses NPA of ignoring calls ahead of court appearance

JOHANNESBURG - Mpumalanga taxi boss Joe 'Ferrari' Sibanyoni's lawyer Shaun Abrahams says the National Prosecuting Authority has not been communicating with them.

He says the investigating officer and senior prosecutors have not returned calls, describing the situation as unacceptable from a professional standpoint.

Sibanyoni and two others are appearing in court on extortion charges.

"The state has been absolutely quiet. They have ignored our telephone calls," Abrahams told eNCA.

"The investigating officer switched off his telephone. The director of Public Prosecutions didn’t come back to us. We are not happy with the game they are playing," he said.

"Let’s go to court. I will make my submissions before the court."
