MIDDELBURG - Prominent taxi boss Joe 'Ferrari' Sibanyoni will make his first appearance in the Kwaggafontein Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
He and two others were arrested on extortion-related charges.
The trio allegedly demanded money from a businessman over an extended period of time.
One suspect remains at large.
The controversial taxi boss is well-known in Mpumalanga, owning a fleet of taxis.
He has also diversified his business interests into mining, construction and IT.
But, he's also been linked to alleged underworld figures, including Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matala.
Sibanyoni will be represented by Advocate Shaun Abrahams when he makes his appearance.
Speaking to eNCA outside court, Abrahams said they were still not clear on the charges against the accused. He said the NPA has not been communicating.
