State witness faces cross-examination in Matlala trial

JOHANNESBURG - The attempted murder trial of alleged kingpin Vusimuzi "Cat" Matala and his four co-accused continues in the South Gauteng High Court.

The state's first witness, security guard Bethwell Cele is expected to be cross-examined.

Cele testified about the August 2022 shooting of taxi boss Joe Sibanyoni.

The prosecutor says his evidence could help place the alleged hitmen at the crime scene.

Matlala and his co-accused face 25 charges, including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, fraud and money laundering.
