Tembisa Hospital tender fraud suspect to appear in court

JOHANNESBURG - A suspect linked to multimillion-rand tender fraud at Tembisa Hospital is expected to appear in court on Monday.

The 37-year-old doctor was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport after returning from abroad.

He is accused of colluding with officials from the Gauteng Health Department to manipulate the procurement process.

He faces charges of fraud, money laundering and corruption.

The Hawks say the investigation comprises seven legs, with the doctor’s arrest forming part of one of them.

The investigation is ongoing.
