UPDATE: Cat Matlala abandons bail application in property fraud case

PRETORIA - Alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala has abandoned his bail application in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.

Matlala faces charges relating to the alleged use of a fraudulent identity document and falsified bank statements to secure a Waterkloof property lease worth R95,000 a month.

His lawyers first want to deal with a separate case in the South Gauteng High Court. Matlala’s legal team could return to court to apply for bail at a later stage.
