JOHANNESBURG - Motorists receiving traffic fines are being cautioned to verify the origin and any notifications of them.
There's been an increase in scams attempting to deceive drivers into making payments to fraudulent accounts.
The Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences is set to roll out its demerit system.

This system will work on a point basis.
If drivers skip a stop sign, they will earn one point.
Once they reach 15 points, their license will be suspended.
Monde Mkhaliphi from the Road Traffic Infringement Authority warned motorists to familiarise themselves with how the points system works.
