JOHANNESBURG - ANC members from Tshwane and Johannesburg are marching to Luthuli House, raising objections to the party’s ward councillor candidate lists.
The members allege that the lists do not reflect the outcomes of voting processes held at their branches. They are also accusing some officials of fraudulently compiling the candidate lists.
The protesting branches are calling for urgent talks with the office of ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula and the party’s provincial leadership.

The dispute comes as the ANC prepares for a legal battle with the Independent Electoral Commission over its candidate lists.
The party missed the deadline to submit some of its candidate lists. The ANC has blamed the delay on a glitch in the IEC’s electronic system.
The IEC, however, disputes this explanation, maintaining that its system did not experience a failure.
