JOHANNESBURG - North West businessman, Brown Mogotsi wants to sue the state for malicious prosecution and unlawful arrest.
Mogotsi was arrested on Friday after he appeared at the Madlanga Commission in Pretoria.
His arrest comes after he allegedly staged his own assassination attempt in November last year.
He claimed to have escaped unscathed after a hail of bullets hit his car.
A witness who spoke to eNCA at the time, however, insisted that Mogotsi is the one who shot at his own car.
The arrest was executed by an SAPS multidisciplinary team.
His lawyer, Adv. Nthabiseng Mohomane could not be drawn into the reasons why he wanted to sue the state or how he planned to go about it.
Mohomane says the details of the lawsuit will be ventilated at a later stage.
The alleged political fixer is set to appear in court on Monday.
He faces charges of defeating the ends of justice. Police say the firearm linked to the scene of the incident last year is linked to other cases, including murder and attempted murder.
Mogotsi's legal team have previously said they felt ambushed by the police as they were not aware that he would be arrested.
