CAPE TOWN - Soldiers have now joined the police in Cape Town’s most crime-affected areas.
Residents are living in constant fear, with the sound of gunfire part of their daily life.
It's hoped the deployment will bring some relief to communities living under the spectre of violence.

President Cyril Ramaphosa approved the deployment of over 2,000 soldiers to help fight crime.
Under Operation Prosper, the SANDF will be sent to assist the police in Gauteng, the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, the Free State and North West for the next year.
With violent crime continuing non-stop in the Western Cape, those communities at the centre of the gang war are becoming impatient.
