'Cat' Matlala may apply to have case struck off roll

JOHANNESBURG - Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala may apply to have his case struck from the roll.

Matlala, his wife Tsakane, and three others face 25 charges, including 11 counts of attempted murder.

The charges relate to three separate shooting incidents allegedly carried out between August 2022 and January 2024.

But Matlala argues there have been undue and unfair delays.

His lawyer Anneline Van den Heever is now threatening to bring a Section 342 application to deal with the delays.

"I can't help but say this is punishment for asking for documents,” Van den Heever said.

“I am astonished that the state can't deal with the requests we've made. Things that are being said about my client are unfair, how do you protect someone’s right when people make allegations.”
