JOHANNESBURG - Alleged crime boss Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala and four others are back in court for alleged attempted murders.
The case has been hamstrung by a trial within a trial over the admissibility of evidence.
The court will focus on the arresting officer's official diary entries on the day Musa Kekana was cuffed.
The alleged hitman maintains police entered his property unlawfully and did not read him his rights.

He argues that means his arrest is unlawful and all evidence collected cannot be admitted.
Matlala faces charges of trying to kill three people, including his ex-girlfriend Tebogo Thobejane.
Taxi boss Joe 'Ferrari' Sibanyoni and music producer DJ Vettys were also allegedly in his crosshairs.
