JOHANNESBURG - Alleged criminal kingpin Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala will ask the High Court to force Correctional Services to move him to Kgosi Mampuru Prison.
Matlala appeared at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court, where the state prosecutor raised concerns that IDAC officials had to transport him from Kokstad back to Gauteng.
Matlala is facing fraud and corruption charges alongside 12 cops in relation to the R360-million tender awarded to his company.
He arrived in court on Monday with his hands and his legs chained.
Matlala's lawyer told the court that he's been instructed to approach the high court for an order to keep Matlala in Pretoria, but would not disclose what application Matlala plans to pursue.
The matter has now been postponed for consultations between the state and Matlala's lawyer.
He will be back in court on 13 May 2026.
