'Cat' Matlala's Madlanga Commission appearance postponed

PRETORIA - Alleged cartel boss Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala will not appear before the Madlanga Commission on Tuesday.

This is despite the inquiry issuing a subpoena for him to appear.

Evidence leaders asked for his appearance to be deferred to a later date.

They cite heightened media and public interest as a concern.

Now, only his legal representative is expected before the commission.

The postponement comes after Matlala agreed to comply with the subpoena.

He's also considering a revised plea deal with the NPA.

Matlala has until next week to decide whether to accept a 12-year prison sentence.
