City of Joburg in financial turmoil

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Finance MEC Nkululeko Dunga says measures are in place, to deal with a fallout from Joburg's financial turmoil. 

That's after Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana threatened to withhold R8 billion in grants, from July.

Dunga said attention will be given to the metropolitan municipalities, to address the concerns raised by Godongwana.

These interventions will focus on improving financial governance, revenue management, compliance with the MFMA, cash flow management, and restoring institutional stability.

Joburg is struggling to contain the fallout from its shoddy finances.
