ConCourt dismisses MK Party application on Ramaphosa’s police Minister appointment

JOHANNESBURG - Constitutional Court has dismissed MK Party application that challenged President Cyril Ramaphosa's decision to appoint of acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia.

This was heard when the matter went to court on Thursday.

The apex court ruled that the case failed to engage court's exclusive jurisdiction.

The Jacob Zuma led party had approached the court over Ramaphosa's decision to place Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on leave, and appoint an acting minister.

It's also contested the establishment of the Madlanga Commission to probe allegations of police corruption.

MK party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela argues that the decision by the court was not fair.

"The application of the law in this country is clear that lady justice has eyes and unfortunately this is something that the people of South Africa must take into their own hands," he says.
