Court to rule in Malema gun trial

EAST LONDON - Julius Malema's wait for judgment continues at the East London magistrate's court.

The EFF leader is still waiting for his verdict on charges of violating the Firearms Control Act.

Malema and former bodyguard, Adriaan Snyman, are accused of firing a rifle at a 2018 rally in Mdantsane.

Video footage shows Snyman handing Malema the weapon before shots were fired into the air.

Both deny the charges, claiming the gun was a toy, with Malema slamming the case as a political witch hunt.

The pair face charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and reckless endangerment.
