JOHANNESBURG - State witness captain Phimi Sekgobela is back in the witness box for cross examination in the trial-within-a-trial, in Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala's attempted murder case.
Alleged hitman Musa Kekana claims police tortured him in pursuit of weapons linked to the murder of Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart.
The same firearms are allegedly connected to a series of botched assassination attempts.
Taxi boss Joe Sibanyoni, DJ Vettys, and Vusimuzi Matlala's ex-girlfriend Tebogo Thobejane, are said to have been targeted.
Kekana is challenging the admissibility of evidence obtained during his arrest in April 2024.
Sekgobela has rejected Kekana's torture claims.
