JOHANNESBURG - Expelled uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party members Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla and Nhlamulo Ndhlela are challenging their expulsion in the South Gauteng High Court.
The former MPs were expelled from the party in June after being accused of gross misconduct.
They have now approached the court, arguing that their expulsion was unfair and unlawful.
Ndhlela is also seeking to have his position as a Member of Parliament reinstated.
The pair allege that people close to MK Party leader Jacob Zuma influenced the decision to dismiss them.
In June, the MK Party said the duo’s social media activity and conduct at party events had caused confusion and fuelled divisions within the organisation.
“The national officials have resolved that Ms Zuma-Sambudla and Mr Nhlamulo Ndhlela have acted in a manner fundamentally inconsistent with the values, discipline, constitutional principles and organisational interests of the MK Party,” MK Party secretary-general Sibonelo Nomvalo said at the time.
