JOHANNESBURG - EFF Member of Parliament Naledi Chirwa is expected to appear in the Hatfield Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Chirwa is accused of assaulting a police officer at the Brooklyn Police Station in Pretoria last Thursday.

The alleged altercation reportedly followed a dispute over an affidavit she had already signed.
Officers allegedly declined to commission the document, explaining that it needed to be signed in the presence of a commissioner of oaths.
The EFF maintains that Chirwa was unlawfully detained and claims she was denied services and mistreated at the police station.
