Ekurhuleni killings: Second victim formally identified

JOHANNESBURG - Another victim in the Ekurhuleni killings has been formally identified.

Itumeleng Kekana was reported missing on 17 July and is the second of the eight women whose bodies have been discovered across the East Rand to be formally identified.

Originally from QwaQwa in the Free State, Kekana’s identification brings some answers to a family that has been desperately searching for her.

But it also raises further questions about the circumstances surrounding her death and whether there could be a link between the cases.

Police have not confirmed that the deaths are connected, as investigations continue.

Seasoned investigators have been brought in to assist with the probe following the discovery of the women’s bodies across Ekurhuleni over the past two months.
