JOHANNESBURG - City of Ekurhuleni Head of Legal Kemi Behari has been placed on precautionary suspension.
This is in relation to the disciplinary process against suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi.
Behari is alleged to have received a massive increase after refusing to take action against Mkhwanazi.
The City has emphasised that this is not a finding of guilt, nor does it constitute disciplinary action.
"It is an interim measure intended to ensure the integrity of ongoing internal processes, protect the interests of the municipality, and uphold principles of good governance.
"The City remains committed to fair, transparent, and procedural compliant governance practices," the city said.
The matter is now the subject of an internal investigation.
Mkhwananzi's suspension comes after he was accused of opening the municipality's door to alleged criminal kingpin Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala.
Among the allegations levelled against him is the facilitation of unauthorised memorandums of understanding with Matlala's CAT VIP Security.
