Eskom to implement 8.76% tariff increase

JOHANNESBURG - Electricity prices are going up from 1 April 2026.

That's after the Energy Regulator, Nersa, accepted adjustments for the 2026/2027 financial year.

Electricity prices will increase by an average of 8.76% for customers supplied directly by Eskom.

Municipalities will introduce their increases from the first of July.

Eskom says the adjustment will help cover the cost of generating, transmitting and distributing electricity.

The power utility says subsidised tariffs for low-income and rural households won't be increased.
