Ford recalls certain Ranger, Everest models

JOHANNESBURG - Ford is recalling certain Ranger bakkies and Everest models.

The recall affects vehicles sold between 2018 and February 2020 that have been fitted with the 10R80 transmission.

Ford said the transmission fluid pump gear in the affected vehicles may fail, reducing hydraulic pressure inside the transmission. This could cause the vehicle to lose drive, increasing the risk of an incident while driving.

The affected vehicles were sold in South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini.

Owners are urged to take their vehicles to the nearest authorised Ford dealership, where the required software update will be carried out free of charge.
