JOHANNESBURG - Former police general Mulangi Mphego’s application to have a police raid at his Centurion home in July declared unlawful has been struck off the roll.
Mphego sought the return of firearms, legal files and his cellphone seized during the operation, arguing that the raid was unconstitutional.
The former top cop is believed to be relevant to the investigation into the 2021 death of deputy national commissioner Sindile Mfazi, who was initially reported to have died from Covid-19 complications.
Investigators are now probing suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe previously said Mfazi’s family had raised concerns about his death and approached the then national commissioner, who instructed the SAPS Cold Case Unit to investigate specific allegations.
Mphego, 57, is also facing charges under the Firearms Control Act for the unlawful possession of police-issued R5 rifle and 9mm ammunition.
He was arrested last week in connection with the ammunition and released on R5,000 bail.
The case has been postponed to 5 November.
