JOHANNESBURG - Alleged political fixer Brown Mogotsi is back in the Johannesburg magistrates’ court on Tuesday for his fourth attempt to secure bail.
Mogotsi has been in custody since his arrest in May over allegations that he staged an assassination attempt in Vosloorus.
He faces charges of perjury, defeating the ends of justice and unlawful possession of a firearm.
His latest bail bid comes after the State raised further concerns during his previous appearance, alleging that the North West businessman had planned to escape custody by disguising himself as a Correctional Services official.

The Department of Correctional Services is expected to provide the court with a report on the alleged escape plot.
However, Mogotsi’s lawyer, Makau Sekgatja, has rejected the State’s claims.
Speaking to eNCA, Sekgatja said there was no evidence to substantiate the allegation that his client had planned to flee custody.
“Our client is denying the allegations,” Sekgatja said.
He added that the defence had not been given any evidence supporting the State’s claim.
