Gana says Impeachment Committee to study WC High Court judgment

CAPE TOWN - Parliament's Section 89 Impeachment Committee chairperson, Makashule Gana, said they will study the Western Cape High Court's full judgment before charting a way forward.

The Court granted President Cyril Ramaphosa's urgent application to interdict public hearings by the Committee looking into the Phala Phala farm scandal.

"From what I hear, it is only the public hearings that have been interdicted," said Gana.

"As soon as we have studied the full judgment, we will then be able to give further updates," he said.

The short ruling was delivered on Friday. Judge Andre Le Grange said pending a determination of Ramaphosa's review, the Speaker of Parliament, Thoko Dididiza and Gana are interdicted from proceeding with public hearings.
