JOHANNESBURG - Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube has condemned an AI-generated fake news report claiming that the 2026 matric examinations have been compromised.
The fabricated report alleged that the National Senior Certificate (NSC) English Paper 3 examination had been leaked.
The Department of Basic Education has dismissed the claims as unsubstantiated, warning that they could disrupt the examination process and cause unnecessary anxiety among learners, parents and educators.
