Hope fading for trapped eKapa mineworkers' families

KIMBERLEY - The wife of a trapped eKapa miner says mine bosses are stonewalling her.

She says there are no clear rescue updates and no answers.

Maritsa Coetzee’s husband is one of five men still underground since Tuesday morning.

She says she hasn't received a single call from the mine, only rudeness and arrogance when she tries to follow up.

On Friday, Mineral Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe delivered the bleakest news yet: the miners may not have survived. 

Due to rising water and unstable ground, rescue teams continue to battle the odds.

As a result, the next steps remain uncertain.

eNCA tried to get a comment from my management, without success.  

Rescue operations continue at the mine.
