PRETORIA - Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala has laid it bare before the Madlanga Commission that he hates alleged political fixer Brown Mogotsi.
This was after he was asked to elaborate on the state of their relationship.
According to Matlala, Mogotsi caused him serious problems.
This, he said, was after he allegedly presented himself as someone from the suspended Police Minister, Senzo Mchunu's office.
Matlala said he had initially trusted Mogotsi after the latter contacted him shortly after police raided his home in December 2024.
According to Matlala, Mogotsi offered to help him open a case against the police and could help assist in getting to the bottom of the raids.

But for that to happen, Matlala said Mogotsi asked him for money.
“He said he wants to bring experts from the police to do the investigation to find out who these people are who came to my house. But by then he wanted money. I gave him that money. I think it was R20,000. He said we must book accommodation for those investigators,” he said.
It was after this that Matlala said he grew suspicious of Mogotsi.
The second time Mogotsi allegedly requested money was during the ANC’s January 8 Celebration, Matlala claimed.
Those costs, he said, amounted to over R150 000 as they included flight costs.
Matlala detailed how his communication with Mogotsi deepened after meeting with former police minister Bheki Cele, who he claimed told him to maintain the communication to establish Mogotsi's real deal.

Matlala said he met with Brown on two occasions, but when asked about the status of their relationship, Matlala said he had ended it after he was arrested in 2025.
“I actually hate him…He caused a lot of problems for me,” he said.
Matlala also told the commission that he could not say with certainty whether Mogotsi was working with Mchunu or whether he was simply using the minister’s name to obtain money.
“It's either he was using Mr Senzo Mchunu's name to swindle money from me. Or he was working with him... So even today I cannot be 100% sure whether he was working with him or not. But I know that he was using his name to ask for money from me,” he said.
