IEC registration drive marred by political killings

CAPE TOWN - Political killings marred this weekend's IEC registration drive.

At least two political party representatives were killed in separate incidents in the Eastern and Western Cape.

DA by-election candidate Sinovuyo Dyokwe was shot and killed in Du Noon.

She and other party members were returning from a voter registration drive on Saturday evening.

Dyokwe was reportedly threatened before the killing. The party has now put up a R50,000 reward for any information that can help police trace her killers.

In the Eastern Cape, Gqeberha councillor Sixelo Mleve was gunned down inside his office.
