PRETORIA - 'If the Madlanga Commission calls you, you must leave the country.' That is the advice former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Advocate Andrea Johnson gave to prosecutor Drushantha Ramsamy.
Ramsamy appeared before the Madlanga Commission on Thursday, where she disputed Johnson's testimony.

Ramsamy said she had previously wanted to make a protected disclosure; however, she made a about-turn to go public.
She told the Commission that since the appointment of Advocate Andy Mothibi as National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP), she and other prosecutors had become 'a little braver'.
Ramsamy said retired NDPP head Shamila Batohi protected Johnson, who ran her office by intimidation. She said Johnson would often be reasonable; however, after talking to Dylan Perumal, she would change.
That is how she earned the nickname 'flip-flop knee-jerk '. Other prosecutors knew Johnson to deviate from IDAC 'Bible' procedures.

Ramsamy brought testimony to the Commission that suspended National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola and General Dumisani Khumalo's arrests were targeted.
The Commission also heard a 12-minute recording of a phone call Johnson made during the time of her appearance at the Commission, in which she was frantically trying to find information sought by the Commissioners.

In the recording, Johnson talked about how she did not know about Sections 27 and 28, as asked at the Commission. Johnson called the Commissioners unprofessional for their facial expressions and laughing during the testimony.
Johnson also told Ramsamy to leave the country if she were to be called by the Commission to avoid testifying against her and IDAC.
