Impeachment committee meets ahead of Phala Phala court ruling

CAPE TOWN - Parliament’s Section 89 impeachment committee is meeting on Wednesday to finalise its terms of reference.

It is also expected to appoint an evidence leader.

The meeting comes ahead of Friday's high court judgment of President Cyril Ramaphosa's application to interdict the Committee's work.

The president argues that the process could cause irreparable harm, while his review of the Phala Phala panel report is pending.

The court’s ruling is expected to determine whether the parliamentary process can proceed, while the review application is still before the courts.
