JOHANNESBURG - Striking Johannesburg Water employees have ended their unprotected strike.
The strike involving members of the South African Municipal Workers’ Union started on Friday.
But they've agreed to return to work, with immediate effect.
The strike comes as Johannesburg faces a critical water shortage.
It's put severe strain on the city’s already stressed water system.
Over the weekend, a burst water pipe in Bryanston forced the city to switch off the flow to avoid wasting drinking water.
ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula visited the site on Tuesday, pledging to ensure repairs are completed quickly.
