CAPE TOWN - The inquest into the death of 22-year-old Anele Tembe is continuing in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court, with a witness telling the court about an exchange he allegedly heard shortly before her fatal fall.
Tembe died in April 2021 after falling from the 10th floor of the Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town.
During proceedings, the witness said he heard what sounded like an argument between a man and a woman shortly before Tembe’s death.

He testified that he heard a woman shouting: “Leave me alone” and “Get away from me.”
The witness said the exchange was followed by what he described as a wailing sound and then a loud bang.
Tembe was engaged to rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes at the time of her death.

The National Prosecuting Authority decided in 2022 not to prosecute anyone in connection with Tembe’s death.
The matter was subsequently referred for an inquest to establish the circumstances surrounding her death and whether any person may have contributed to it.
The inquest follows Forbes’ death in 2023. He was murdered in Durban.
Proceedings in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court are continuing.
