LIVESTREAM | Phala Phala report review continues

CAPE TOWN - The legal battle over the Phala Phala farm theft independent panel report continues at the Western Cape High Court on Friday, with the MK Party and United Africans Transformation (UAT) set to present their arguments.

The proceedings follow Thursday’s focus on the stashed US dollars and the Namibian connection at the centre of the controversy.

Lawyers debated the origins of the cash and questioned trips to Namibia involving former special envoy Bejani Chauke and Presidential Protection Services head, Major-General Wally Rhoode.

President Cyril Ramaphosa is asking the Western Cape High Court to set aside the report of the independent panel, which concluded that he may have violated the Constitution and his oath of office in his handling of the theft at his Phala Phala farm.

As arguments continue on Friday, the court battle could further intensify scrutiny of the president’s conduct and the unanswered questions surrounding the cash, the theft, and the events that followed.
