BOKSBURG – A man implicated in the Madlanga Commission has survived an alleged hit.
Details remain sketchy, but eNCA understands the man -- who cannot be named to protect his identity -- was ambushed by unknown gunmen in Boksburg on Thursday.
In a panicked voice note sent to security authorities in the area, the man is heard pleading for backup.
In the recording, he says the attackers tried to hijack or kill him and that his bakkie was shot multiple times before he managed to escape.
Impeccable sources say the man was implicated in testimony given by slain witness Marius van der Merwe, known as Witness D.
Van der Merwe was murdered outside his home in December.
The man escaped the attack without injury.
